News: Update March 2013

The Colebrooke Centre was delighted to host a seminar on Active Implementation Frameworks: Supporting Evidence-based Policy, Practice, and Decision-Making given by Melissa Van Dyke, Associate Director of the National Implementation Research Network (NIRN), Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in London on March 20th 2013. The talk provided an overview of Active Implementation Frameworks developed by NIRN, and included general discussion and real world examples related to key components of effective implementation: Usable intervention criteria; Implementation drivers; Implementation stages; Implementation teams; and Improvement cycles.

The seminar was attended by 25 invited guests, and was chaired by Jane Lewis, Director of Implementation Support at the Colebrooke Centre.

News: Update March 2012

Between March 5th and 8th 2012 The Colebrooke Centre hosted a visit to London from international leaders in implementation science and practice for a series of events aimed at children’ services leads in local authorities.

March 7th 2012: Dr Karen Blase co-Director of the National Implementation Research Network, Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA gave a keynote talk entitled Bridging the gap from good ideas to great services: the role of implementation at a policy innovation workshop sponsored by and co-organised with the Innovation Fund of the Children’s Improvement Board. The event explored how emerging learning in implementation science and practice can support and assist the children’s services improvement agenda in the UK. The day was chaired by Andrew Webb, Corporate Director of Services to People, Stockport Council, and Professor Terje Odgen of the Norwegian Center for Child Behavioural Development at the Univetrsity of Oslo, gave a keynote paper on Applying an implementation perspective to improve policy and services – a view from Scandinavia. Panellists from the UK reflected in Innovation and implementation – learning from the experience in the UK and included Graham Archer, Acting Director for Supporting Delivery Group, DfE; Kate Billingham, Project Director, Family Nurse Partnership Programme and the Healthy Child Programme, DH/DfE, Christine Davies, Chief Executive, C4EO; Lynda Wilson, Director, Barnardo’s Northern Ireland and John Harris, Director of Commissioning and Brokerage, Children’s Improvement Board.

March 6th 2012: Dr Karen Blase led a seminar hosted by the Greater London Authority on Implementing high quality children’s services in London: Sustaining good practice and managing change: How an implementation science and practice framework can help. Catherine Doran, Corporate Director of Children’s Services, London Borough of Harrow, acted as discussant for the morning.
